DynoOct2003

Required a bit of fuel retuning, but the power and torque ae good. After adding the water injection, I was able to pull alot of the fuel at high RPM's but ultimately no power gain - BUT - when it's hot out, no loss either

A/F looks good.... I need to richen it up at 6500 but other than that it's solid.

aren't you already at 12.0 at 6500 rpm? Are you sure you want to go richer?

Hmmm... folks on Honda-Tech say the same thing (I know you're there too)

I wonder how much I can get away with in the leaning it out further department..... ?

I see you got that done in mass but who tuned it for you and what standalone?

I have done all the tuning using the dyno in Worcester, which incidentally is cheap and they let you do the runs - they aren't terribly knowledgable with imports but friendly and have enough of an understanding of cars in general to help out.

No standalone, just a VAFC.

Damn Chuck, nice power. I wish I could have made power w/ my 9psi set up. Only got an extra 15 or so out of it. So I'm back to 6psi w/ 172/138. I'd love to have nearly 200 like you!!! Congrats.

Thanks! Well you'd figure after a bunch of $$$ I could get it above 190 HP...

The goal is 200.... better valve springs, a Kami header, and external coil, raising the rev limit, and plug gaps of .32 have been suggested by John at LHT. (my current gap is .38)

I want to get to 200 WITHOUT opening the motor - seems like the Kami is the only bolt-on that may sneak the power up a bit... and no nitrous. But, I already have the DC 4-2-1. Is it worth changing the header at all?

I run the stock 235cc injectors - but - I'm pulling fuel, not adding it, so I don't see where larger injectors would help.

Hondata has shown no gain over my FMU setup, so that's out too.

EDIT: I almost forgot - upping the boost... but how? I don't want to go CRV (want to spin alternator at stock speed) and the belt clearances are tight already, nevermind putting a smaller pulley on the blower.

Any thoughts?

Chuck

try puting cam gears on. That's what i'm thinking of doing next. I managed to put 187whp (conservative tuning), hopefully when i put the cam gears in it would put me past 200whp.
Just a thought...

Not a bad idea... I need to do a little research into this... I am not very familiar with what changing cam timing will do to a SC'd Honda, so time to hit the books.

Defcon: You are running all that MSD stuff and the 440's for your 187 HP run? Do you have a dyno sheet for it?

You're so close to your target... have you done anything with the intake/filter combo? I bet you could probably pick up the extra power if you haven't already done so...

When Doug at Hondata dyno'd my GSR, he said he picked up 15 Hp alone by swapping my almost stock intake with a 3 inch intake from an RSX-S. I routed my stock intake to breathe from the fenderwell by cutting the elbow from the top of the resonator box and sealing up the hole that went back into the engine bay. It still had to breathe through resonator's dollar-sized holes so the RSX-S intake really improved on this. It finally topped out at 251 Hp/181 lb-ft at the wheels, at 10 psi...
